Tributes Paid to Leadburn Crash Victim
Police Scotland name one of two killed on Sunday
Tributes have been paid to a “devoted wife, mother, granny and good friend to all” after a two car collision left two dead south of Penicuik.
Following the fatal accident on a stretch of the A6094 between Howgate and Leadburn on Sunday 2 October, Police Scotland has named one of the victims as 68 year old Irene Robson from Peebles.
Mrs Robson died after her red Honda Jazz was involved in a collision with a silver Vauxhall Zafira shortly before 1pm to the rear of the Leadburn Inn.
The driver of the Vauxhall, a 41 year old man, also died at the scene but has not been named.
Today, Irene’s family issued the following statement through Police Scotland:
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Irene.
It has come as a great shock to us all and we’re grateful for the messages of condolences from friends.
Irene was a devoted wife, mother, granny, daughter, sister, auntie and good friend to many.
She will be sadly missed by all.
Police Scotland are continuing their enquiries into the incident and are keen to speak to some passerbys who may have helped on the scene but left before emergency services arrived.
Anyone with information can contact Police Scotland on 101 or alternatively an anonymous report can be made through the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
