February 2016

DELAYED until July 11/02 to 13/05 (exact dates TBC) – Midlothian Council – Pavement Resurfacing – A701 from Eastfield Farm Road to Beeslack CHS

Once new lighting columns have been erected along this stretch of Edinburgh Road, works to replace the pavements’ asphalt surface will commence. This will likely involve the closure of the pavement and may involve off-peak lane closures to facilitate the use of machinery and expected removal of the fencing. Limited to some travel disruption expected.

Update 5/4: These works commenced and the fencing was removed. Works have since halted and temporary crash barriers will remain in place until July when the roadworks are set to continue.

ONGOING 18/02 to 17/07 (exact dates TBC) – Scottish Water – Enabling Works for new Roundabout – A702 Mauricewood Junction

The first phase in the lengthy programme to construct a £4.3m roundabout onto the A702 at Mauricewood, will get underway this February. Scottish Water have advised that the work will be undertaken in three stages, each taking one week: the installation of crash barriers, laying of the new pipes, removal of the crash barriers. The majority of the work will take place on the land surrounding the junction however at certain times traffic management will be required. This may cause considerable delays if used during peak hours. Exact timescales for the three stages are unknown but further details will follow in due course. Medium to high travel disruption expected.
