Activists Up Their Game

Penicuik Environment Protection Association have changed campaigning methods as planning application is submitted.

A local environmental activist group has distributed thousands of leaflets throughout Penicuik in response to Wind Prospect Developments Ltd submitting a detailed planning application for nine wind turbines.

The leaflet which states eight reasons to object to the development includes two pre-addressed postcards that can be stamped and sent to the local planning body.

PEPA also quote the SNP government, before they came to power, saying:

The Scottish Government does not support renewable energy anywhere or at any price to the environment

Their main area of objection to the planning application is stated as the impact on local wildlife:

There will be critical impact on the particularly rich wildlife which currently inhabits the area. Mount Lothian is close to Gladhouse Resrvoir SPA, part of the Moorfoot Hills AGLV, and to sites of special scientific interest, where osprey, barn owls and hen harriers are resident and the exceedingly rare Great Crested Newt has made its home.

Later on in the document PEPA question what impact there would be on TV reception in Penicuik due to the height of the structures.
