Hunter & Lass 2017 Nominations Sought

Do you have what it takes?

The committee behind Penicuik’s annual festivities are calling on the public to nominate their friends and family to be the town’s leading duo.

There are only nineteen weeks left until the streets are lined, floats primed and horses groomed for Penicuik Hunter and Lass Day.

However, before we can get there, the Hunter and Lass organising committee have issued an urgent appeal for nominations to represent the town this year. Could you be like William Brown and Kerry Wilson, the reigning Hunter and Lass, to lead the Ride Out through the Pentland Hills this May?

If you live in Penicuik, have an interest for the town and an outgoing personality (you must be able to shout hoo-rah several hundred times in a year) and are over eighteen, then the position could be for you.Horse riding experience is not essential as free riding lessons will be given if required. Nominations can either be made on an individual basis or as part of a couple. You may nominate someone else but do let them known before hand.

Last year, the future of the annual festival was thrown into doubt after a severe lack of nominations. The organisers are hoping to avoid a repeat of these concerns again this year.

To nominate either yourself or someone else, visit the Penicuik Hunter and Lass website and follow one of three listed methods.

Interviews will be held within the next month and the chosen couple will be subsequently announced.
