CALA Continue Penicuik Athletic Sponsorship

The town’s Super League football team, have started the new season with the vital support and sponsorship from CALA Homes.

Penicuik Athletic have embarked on their second season in the East of Scotland Super League. The junior level club, who have been sponsored by CALA for several years, took to the grounds in Penicuik Park showcasing not only their talents but their new strip, funded by the house builder and main sponsor.

A tough season against the edit of junior football lies ahead, and the club will be hoping to utilise their sponsorship deal to fund new equipment to help players be the best. Penicuik Athletic’s debut year in the Super League resulted in a healthy sixth place but this year their eyes will be firmly on the trophy.

James Taylor, Treasuer of Penicuik Athletic Football Club, said:

We are extremely grateful for CALA Home’s support for the club.

They have backed us for more than six years now and without their sponsorship we would find it very difficult, we might even be in a lower league.

With their support we have been able to proactively compete with other clubs and have been able to develop our players into rising talents of the future.

The local club was founded in 1888 and has since gone on to produce many notable Scottish football players, including former Heart of Midlothian player Brad McKay, who has since transferred to St Johnstone.

Derek Lawson, Strategic Land Director at CALA Homes (East) voiced his continued support for the club, he said:

Here at CALA Homes we have been completely behind Penicuik Athletic and are thrilled to be their sponsor for the fifth year in a row.

We were delighted when the team were promoted to their super league and it was great to see them do so well in the top division last season. We’ll continue to cheer them on as they go from strength to strength.

CALA Homes is all very focussed on community spirit and you couldn’t get more to the heart of that with a local football team as the games bring everyone together.

We also look forward to seeing the club invest in the rising stars of the future and continue to give their players the fantastic opportunities they have done for so many years.

CALA Homes are headquartered in Scotland and are the UK’s most upmarket homebuilder. They are currently working in a consortium with Mactaggart & Mickel and Bett Homes to realise hundreds of new homes in the north west of Penicuik. A planning application is expected later this year.
