Witnesses are being sought following a suspicious fire in Penicuik on February 17.

Officers from Police and Fire Scotland were called to an address on Loanburn Avenue at 10:15pm last night, following a fence being set alight. The fire, which was quickly extinguished, resulted in a large amount of damage to the property’s exterior fence and gate, along with to the building itself.

The case has now been passed to Police Scotland, who are investigating the incident as a wilful fire-raising.

Inspector Andy Toombs said:

This was an incredibly dangerous and reckless act and we are appealing for anyone who saw any suspicious behaviour around Loanburn Avenue in Penicuik around 10pm on Tuesday evening. Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
