Resident’s Call For Change

A local resident is determined to change pedestrian crossings in the town centre after she feared for the lives of community members who use them.

Morag Montgomery has partnered with a local organisation to help aid her in achieving signatures on an online petition. This petition aims to remove both of the zebra crossings beside Lidl on St Kentigern Way and replace with one pelican crossing. After a discussion with the public it was also concluded that T-Junction at Mauricewood Road/Edinburgh Road should be signalised, therefore this aim is also included in the petition.

Morag told us the following before Christmas:

“This week alone there have been 4 or 5 near misses with drivers going at speed and not stopping to let pedestrians cross and when they do try to cross; almost being run over by inconsiderate drivers. This is an accident waiting to happen and its only a matter of time before someone is killed here.”

The petition which is managed by the Pen-Y-Cog Group can be found online by clicking here.
